Hey there! I’m Marissa, the heart and soul behind Hey Jack’s Dance program. I’ve been dancing since I could walk and have been teaching for over 15 years. I was fortunate to run my own successful dance studio and channel all my love for dance into teaching others. My passion for dance led me to launch this program at Hey Jack. I’m not just here to teach you how to dance; I’m your go-to for all things wedding-related, from planning and timeline tips to ensuring your first dance is as enchanting as the rest of your special day. WHAT SHOULD WE WEAR FOR OUR DANCE LESSONS?
We suggest dressing in attire that mirrors the style of your wedding outfit, whether that means a long puffy/tight fitted dress or snug-fitting pants. It’s also advisable to have appropriate footwear or a similar option for practicing.
HOW CAN I DETERMINE THE RIGHT LEVEL TO CHOOSE?
Your choreographer will contact you to discuss your dance goals and determine the most suitable level for you. We prioritize your comfort, so this conversation is of extremely importance to us.
I HAVE AN INJURY BUT AM STILL INTERESTED IN TAKING SOME LESSONS
Discuss your limitations with your choreographer. If you are medically cleared to dance, we can tailor the lessons to accommodate your needs and ensure a beautiful experience for you.
CAN OUR HEY JACK MUSICIAN PERFORM OUR SELECTED SONG LIVE?
Absolutely! If you’ve arranged for a live musician during their scheduled performance times, they will deliver a special rendition of the song, matching the tempo and style of the original track, allowing you to practice effectively.
WE WOULD LIKE OUR SONG TO UNDERGO SOME EDITING.
Your choreographer can make the necessary adjustments to your song to align it with your dance routine. Many songs can feel overly long for performances in front of a live audience, so you can trust us to trim and utilise the most fitting segments of the track. Additionally, we can incorporate multiple tracks if you wish to incorporate a completely different style.
WHAT IF WE FORGET THE DANCE IN BETWEEN OUR LESSONS?
Following your lessons, your choreographer will record your routine and provide you with the video so you to practice at home. Rest assured, this recording is intended for your private use only.
HOW CAN WE DETERMINE WHICH DANCE STYLE TO SELECT?
After booking your lessons with Hey Jack, we will guide you through the various options for what your dance could entail. Our aim is to ensure you feel at ease with the dance style you choose.
HOW WILL THE CHOREOGRAPHER UNDERSTAND OUR PREFERENCES?
We take time in getting to know you before your lesson, allowing us to customize the routine to your liking. Additionally, we’ll have a pre-lesson conversation to address any specific details and questions you may have, and if you’re up for it, we can even enjoy a cheeky beverage to make it a more relaxed and enjoyable experience.
CAN WE EXTEND THE NUMBER OF LESSONS IF NECESSARY?
Absolutely! We are committed to ensuring your dance is perfected, so if it requires adding one or two additional lessons, we will be more than happy to accommodate your needs.
